A-Basil-olutely Smashing

I must say that's some nice salt; the ginger/corriander salt was carefully applied to some Scottish Sirloin Steaks from the local butcher. It was then grilled along with some chicken breasts and served up with asparagus, a tomato salad, green salad and trademarked Singer Garlic Bread. It seems to be a pattern - I end up using PetDoc's and Noise's gas grill, though I rather suspect I won't get this one upon their departure from London.

This trip has turned me on to a couple things based on my experience at P&N's; their apartment has a gas range. Even with just my experience of making an egg in the morning, I've fallen in love with the little blue flame. Things heat quickly and evenly, and well it's on my list of must haves for the next place.

Also, I had a chance to raid some of PetDoc's fresh basil today, and we've resolved to get our own little collection of herbs next summer. Basil ended up on both the chicken breasts and in the tomato salad

Tomato Salad

Dozen or so cherry tomatoes, halved
Half dozen fresh basil leaves, chopped
Drizzle of olive oil
Smattering of cheese
salt + pepper

Tasty!

I so miss my gas stove. It cooked so much better. The one odd thing I always found though was that water took much longer to boil. Weird.

Glad to hear you'r enjoying your trip. You'll have to get away more often so you blog more!
