Unemployed!
That's all she wrote folks; 7 years, 2 months and 5 days later I walked out of my former employers building for the last time. It's certainly been a wild ride, and I have grown through the experience. I think the most important lesson I have learned over the past 7 years is that, ultimately, I can make choices for myself and I'm only responsible for my own actions and their consequences.
It wasn't easy to leave yesterday - I was treated to a most excellent lunch and then to a most excellent dinner, as my colleagues had given me an incredibly generous gift certificate to Bella's Italian Bistro, where the Singer and myself decided to celebrate a) my departing the company and b) our 18 minute... er 18 month milestone. Hard to believe that Date #0 was two winters ago now. We had a lot to celebrate!
We started with a Chilean Chardonnay, which was quite fruity and sweet. I chose the soup of the day, Cream of Potato and Spinach, and on of the daily specials; Pork Tenderloin stuffed with veal, proscuitto and sage. The Singer had the Insalata della Salute and followed up with the Cannelloni con Carne, which was stuffed with veal, chicken and beef. Both our meals were divine. For dessert, we shared some tiramisu. We were both absolutely stuffed when we waddled out. All in all, a fantastic dining experience to top off a long and somewhat bittersweet day.
My victory lap took two and a half hours to complete, as I went from one end of the building to the other saying goodbye to those I could. It certainly was a wonderful accounting of friends, which made it hard to leave. Mind you, it will be very nice to have a different conversation than the one I've been having for the last two weeks.

I was unemployed for a week when I switched jobs. It was the oddest feeling, like a part of my identity was stripped away. Good luck to you in your new job!
Okay, I obviously had a lot to catch up on! I got so used to you not posting ... I didn't stop in as often as I should. I also need to start checking all my blog reading again, I am getting better with time management. Sorta.
MASSIVE congratz. Seriously. And frankly, it's about time. But I am sure I am not the first to say this.
Oh, and you and The Singer have been together 18 months? Really? Wow. Where does time go? Congratz on that too. And hugs.
