There and back again

By and large, I don't think New Jersey deserves the stereotype it seems to have acquired. As we flew in along the Hudson River, things were lush and green and there were honest to God leaves on the trees. Wholly unlike our stunted growing season here where the buds are just beginning to appear.

I saw the Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty off to the left as we landed at Newark (EWR). Oddly exciting, I must say. But visits to those landmarks will have to wait, as this was a business trip and there would, unfortunately, be no time.

Our trek down I-78 and I-287 out of Newark made me appreciate how simple traffic in Ottawa is. If the sheer volume of traffic wasn't enough, then the turns and roads which were seemingly designed by an epileptic contortionist made me want for a GPS unit. For the most part, the countryside was a nice drive, and due to a number of wrong turns, we saw a lot of it. Our drive back to the airport, a couple of days later, was more straight forward.... except for the two overturned semis at the airport exit. Good times.

So, one slightly delayed flight out of EWR, I got home in time for the weekend and sammiches.
