I've Made a Huge Mistake

Huevos Rancheros, not the Canadian Indie Rock band that comes to mind. No! It's apparently Mexican for Fried Egg Nachos. I had to try it, as it's not something I'm likely to get in Canada and I don't have the fortitude to try grits. What was delivered to me was a large plate of apparently cheese, underwhich there were Mexican beans, Chorizo Sausage, Tostadas (aka Tostitos) and two eggs, fried, very over easy. And even as I could feel my cholestorol levels rising, I was unable to stop myself from consuming it. In penance, I'm going to shortly hit the fitness centre here at the hotel where I shall remain for the next three days.

I was also offered some cookies by our onsite guy; Cookies by Carol. My partner in crime was raving about them, so I had to try one. I broke off a quarter of one, but I didn't find it all that appealing. Basically it was just sugar and shortening and approximately and weight of three hockey pucks. Perhaps it's professional snobbery, but I don't see what people consider so good about them. Give me a small, two bite, ginger sparkler any day.

Finally, there is apparently a trip to Babe's Chicken Dinner House in the offing. At Babe's Roanoke, you make two choices; either Chicken fried Chicken or Chicken Fried Steak and will you have soda or sweet tea to drink? No good will come of that trip.

In Germany, Christmas gift labels list the sender first ("Von", meaning from), followed by the recipient ("Für", meaning for).

Wow, talk about not checking the blogs. I was over at The Singers and she just casually mentioned that you were MIA. Texas! It would figure now that I am not a days drive away you would get to go there! Drat it all. Next trip needs to be to (pick one, or all three!): Seattle, Portland, Boise. All of which are easy drives for us! Oh, and bring The Singer. While you are busy working, I can corrupt her. Or vice versa. :)

Hope you are having a good time, even if it is for work. Cheers! Kiy

I haven't ever been brave enough to try Huevos Rancheros, not being much of an egg fan. Glad to hear you're getting a dose of over-friendly Southern people. ;) It still takes me aback when I'm greeted by everyone all the time.
