Back to School
Well, the first week seems to have flown by. I've several impressions of my first week back.
1) There sure a lot of older people here; my class is about half mature students. Not surprising considering the professional accounting course is intended for people looking to retrain for accounting and get a fast track on their CGA desgination. Seemingly without fail, the older people sit at the front and the younger ones are at the back - must be because our hearing and eyesight is going.
2) The younger kids are all really young, buried in their phones and really loud. I suppose that shows I'm aging. Regardless, I find Alqonquin to be an incredibly noisy place, even outside the common areas; it's rather hard to concentrate, even in the library.
3) I'm getting old. I want to yell at the guys, "pull up your pants" and yell at the girls, "wear some pants". My bus trip on Friday was... educational. It was full of highschool kids, when I got on. As the trip progressed, I slowly, horrifically became aware that these weren't high school kids, but in fact Algonquin college students. I wept.
Highlights of the week:
- bending over to pick up my book bag on the first day, only to hear a loud rip as the seem in my new pants split
- Borrowing two textbooks from the Divine Ms. B, saving me about $300.
- Walking upstairs to my locker, to get my lunch, walking down stairs to heat and eat my lunch, walking back upstairs to my locker to put things away, walking down stairs and across campus to my english class, only to find out that it had moved to three doors down from my locker. Awesome.
- Getting a semester bus pass without any real hassle
I'm pretty sure I attended some classes in there too.
Now on to week two.

Terrific.
Way to go, Serdic! Believe it or not I actually envy you. :) Well, maybe not the pants splitting part...
