Of hotels, and non-greasy Chinese food

Well, I'm home. I got home yesterday around 1630, somewhat sunburned from driving and golf. I was coming back Thursday, but ended up crashing at the Funny Farm... aka home. Pa cooked dinner, and we hit a round to wind down. It was an interesting few days.

My aunts house is packed to the rafters with family, nurses and sundry friends. I saw my uncle Jim for the first time in 10 years and my cousin Matt too. Christ, he's taller than me. No sooner did I walk into my aunt's (Cathy) place before my other aunt (Chrissie), fairly bursting at the seams, asked me about the hotel. I was rather confuzzled. Confuzzlement soon changed to the running joke of my visit.

You see, my parents first checked in they were very impressed by the lobby. It really is a nice lobby. They headed up to the first room. There were no linens on the beds. Down to the lobby they go and discuss this with the front desk. They go to the second room, which was apparently filthy. Third times a charm, right? No, not so much. Mom refused to stay there, and decided to crash at my aunts place instead. The major problem... no TVs in the rooms.

So, for my entire stay there, all anybody talked about was the hotel. Of course, my room was fine, and I didn't care about the lack of TV (funny that). I managed to keep my brother awake with my snoring, apparently, which I consider payback for the numerous times he phoned me for a ride. You see, he'd usually end up in Kingston on Fridays... drunk, broke and alone, since his friends would typically abandon him.

One thing we did agree on was there was a great chinese restaurant on the SE corner of Dundas and Centre. Cheap beer (3 bucks), good wonton soup and great spring rolls/chicken balls. Not a trace of extra grease on them. My dad was really impressed by this. That became his meme for the rest of the stay.

Anyways, Nana's had some really good days lately, so here's hoping it continues like that. =)

I'm glad that your visit went well, it's always interesting to see family that you haven't seen for a while. Good for nana, glad that she's doing better. :)
