Dinner was planned and shopping needed to be done, so with the aid of the redoubtable RJA, we decended on the Eagleson RCSS. My goal was to get chicken and spinach for dinner. Due to the awesomeness off the Superstore, I also walked out with 1lb of strawberries and a very nice bouquet of flowers. What can I say? I'm a traditionalist.
Dropping RJA off at Metcalfe and Slater, I proceeded on to the Singer's where dinner was to be prepared and eaten. On the menu was chicken breast in balsamic vinegar and oregano. The side dish would be penne tossed in garlic, spinach, olive oil and goat cheese. The very soul of quick and easy. The time elapsed from the start of cooking until serving was twenty minutes and with preparation added it was about 35 minutes total.
I removed the breasts from the bone, and let them sit in the vinegar and oregano for 30 minutes prior to cooking. Honestly, an hour or so would have probably been better but the timing did not permit it. Timing for everything else was perfect though. The pasta required 13 minutes and since I was pan frying the chicken (no added oil), it takes 12 minutes (6 minutes a side approx).
Just a quick, quiet and simple dinner but tasty nonetheless.

Hmmm, and here I was coming to comment on what a lovely meal it was, but how can I follow that?
But yeah. Two thumbs up on the delicious meal. Two thumbs down on the hostess, who had crashed on the couch by 8 p.m., but that's just because she's old and decrepit.
That's ok. It just meant I got to sneak out of doing dishes! Bwahaahahahaahaha!
Let me get this straight. You went into the Superstore, looking for chicken and spinach, and ALL you came out with was chicken, spinach, strawberries and flowers?
You have the self-restraint of a saint!
