Date #0
Well, last night was my first date for the year. As I mentioned before, I knew this lady from back in the day, so we had a lot of catching up to do. We'd decided to meet at the Second Cup on Bank and Somerset. I arrived on time, or close to it as had to stop and get some cash.
I ended up stopping at Hartman's Independent Grocer where they had one of the usual usurous bank machines. I discovered they have a little seating section near the front for people to eat some of the ready made foods. A part of that seating section is an accessible piano, and someone was doing an impromptu recital of Imagine by John Lennon.
Money in hand, I moved on to the Second Cup, where I found she was already there. Her hair was lighter than I remembered, but she was fairly close to what I remembered. Paying separately, we both got the Caramelo blend, which was a mistake for me. I used to be able to drink coffee till all hours of the night, and go immediately to sleep. I haven't been able to do that for a long time now, so the caffiene would keep me up till 0230. Lesson learned... again.
The meeting quickly progressed to finding a place to sit, which wasn't easy. There was a gentleman playing some Spanish guitar, and had plugged into an amplifier (totally unnecessary given the small space). This required us to find a seat behind him, which we were fortunate enough to do. As she said, "I'm from a musical family. We learned long ago, sit behind the amp.".
And the next thing I knew, three hours had passed. We covered travel, family, school and the Glen House. So, we'll see what comes next; first dates are very tricky things. I certainly enjoyed myself, and she mentioned that she did too. Regardless, it was nice to remember some of the craziness I encountered before I moved to Ottawa.

I'm glad that things went well for you. :)
Congrats, dude. That's big news.
Okay, trying to repost this....
Must have been a great time, if you *both* lost three hours just talking. Best kind of date, in my (ever so) humble opinion. :)
