Silver Hells! Silver Hells!
Crap, soon it will be Christmas day!!! After a fairly successful shopping trip with Nail last evening, Optimist Prime, Null, Nail, RJA and Serddad are done. Pipes, my brother and whose name is not based on the size of his arms or his lungs, is mostly done. I'll pick him up some more phone minutes, cause he's got a network of friends to coordinate. Serdmom, as always is proving somewhat more elusive, despite giving me a list. One final push though, and I should be done for her.
It's funny how sometimes someone seems so familiar, and you don't want to say anything for fear of embarassment. I've moved past that I think, as I had a long chat with a Hottie, who I just couldn't place. She was from my hometown and by God, I just couldn't remember where I knew her from. It was only after we left Bodyshop that Nail suggest I should have asked for her number, which honestly hadn't occured to me. Mental note, always carry business cards and a pen.
Of course, it was only later that I remembered her. She used to work as a baker at the local Tim Horton's (think Dunkin Donuts) where I lived, and I knew her parents as well. The one mistake I made, and it's sort of natural for me is to associate myself as Pipe's brother. Gonna have to keep an eye on that sibling jealousy.
Lastly, I made up another batch of butter tarts on Wednesday and from start to finish, it took me about an hour and a half. The next time I do it there are a few refinements I'm going to make. First, I'll make all the dough at once, instead of in two separate batches. Now that I know what sort of consistency I need, it should make things a little quicker.
Second, I'm going to whisk up the eggs and cream ahead of time, and let them come to room temperature. Hopefully when I add them to the butter/sugar mixture, things'll end up smoother. Additionally, I'll add that mixture in a slow steady stream as I whisk it in with the butter/sugar.
Third and finally, I'm going to let the butter/sugar heat even more so that I get more of a syrup than a slightly homogenous mixture. But that's just me, nobody else is complaining.
