You Can Go Home Again
Well, I got home safe and sound after another family Christmas. The baked goods were appreciated, and spread out even further since I was able to make a care package for one of my grandmothers. My positition as the good son is secure until at least mid Feb, when my parents have their 31st anniversary. I managed to score my nana's Oatmeal cookie recipe while I was down on the funny farm, so I'm looking forward to giving that a try as well as Angel Food Cake, which has been promised to Mme. Foran_Objet (sic.).
My nana is doing very well, especially considering that when my brother and I went to visit the family in August, we'd taken our suits with us in case we had to go to a funeral. A lot of the change, I think, has to do with the fact that she's been taken off of most of her drugs. As a result her kidneys don't have to work so hard, and her quality of life has improved greatly. She's able to get about without a walker. While she has good days and bad days with her Alzheimer's, she's not bed ridden waiting to die. Compared to what she's gone through for the past 10-15 years, this is a remarkable improvment.
For now, I have a few days off where I'm bascially recharging, and getting ready for the post Christmas rush at work, which should last until May. Between now and then though, there's still avid discussion of doing the CN Tower climb in April. Serdmom freaked when I mentioned that I'm going to try and do that. I'll probably have a chat with the doctor before I do it, just to make sure. In the meantime, I'll have to keep going to the gym, and generally try to improve my condition. One practical way of doing this will involve me getting off the elevator a few floors early from now on.
Beyond that, I need to improve my diet, because any weight that I lose now is weight I don't have to carry up that tower.
Finally, the online dating scene is on hold for a couple more weeks at least, while I let the Christmas rush die down. I think it's time to review and refresh my profile, and possibly even have a decent bloody picture to use too! (ed. comme ca)
So, who has what plans for New Years, this year? And if I don't talk chat with you beforehand, Happy New Year! Here's hoping it's a wonderful one.
