That's the Chicago Way
He pulls a knife, you pull a spork. He sends out a flank steak, you serve him up sirloin. That's the Chicago Way, and that's how you get Capone. I've had pepper steak on the brain for a little while now, and I finally got around to making it. Pretty much the only thing I needed to get was the was the beef and the celery. The recipe calls for a splash of wine, which is not something I normally stock. Fortunately, one of the salesguys at work had supplied tech support with demiboites at Christmas. I ended up with the Merlot. Suffice it to say, I'm not a fan of wine, so I'm glad I was able to open this bottle and put it to good use. Jesus may have turned water into wine, but that's only because he didn't know how to change it into beer.
Anyways, it looks like I'll be dining on Chicago Pepper Steak for a while. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as flavourful as I would have liked it. A couple things I can try though; first would be to marinate the steak for several hours. Second would be to get a different cut of meat like flank steak or a blade steak. After all, "Ask any Asian grandmother and they will agree that lower grades add more flavor." But for now, I'll just have to add salt and pepper.
On the dating front, I do have a catchup and coffee date with the lady I know from way back then. It's starting to come back to me now. Her father was the music teacher at the local highschool, which would explain her choir bound lifestyle. The other one may have gone cold, I don't know. It's so hard to really tell about these things. At the end of the day, I'm just being myself, but I do wonder if there's something I'm doing wrong.
Yes, I go into these situations believing that there's every reason in the world to like me, and want to go out for coffee with me. So, perhaps I spend too long on the ones that don't think that way, instead of just moving on. And perhaps I'm just overly methodical. Dating isn't a science. There's no set formula for doing anything, but I'll be damned if I don't try to find it anyways.
