Interesting Week

Well, Darklight was right. The people on PlentyofFish(PoF) seem to be a little more relaxed than on Lavalife. I think it's because you don't have to pay to email someone, so people are a little more friendly. My profile seems to be generating some interest. It started about 10 days ago when I got a message from a very nice lady in Barrie. For all intents and purposes, she was someone who I'd like to get to know better. Unfortunately Barrie to Ottawa is a fair distance, and the last thing I want is another virtual relationship.

Yes, matches can be made and magic can happen over the Internet. People from 3 timezones away can fall in love, and live happily ever after. I'm just not one of them. As much as I'd like to be, I'm not. No, I really do want to go for coffee, walks and dinners, and I don't want to have to book train tickets to do it. There's nothing wrong with that, and I'm not wrong to want it. I just have to be willing to wait until it does happen, and I can't force it.

So, it was really hard for me to say no to the really nice lady in Barrie, but that's the easy way out. While I was writing to her I received a nice note of encouragement from someone out of the blue.

I just wanted to say that I think you sound like a very nice person and really think it's sweet that you bake cookies for your friends.

I am actually engaged but was looking at this site for a friend of mine and I just wanted to send you an encouraging note to say that you will surely find a nice girl out there that meets your needs and appreciates all that you have to offer.

Needless to say, it was appreciated. She's right, of course.

I've never been good at saying no. I'm getting better at it, but I still need a lot of practice. The funny thing is, since I've been checking my eharmony account, as well as on Lavalife and PoF, I've gotten to be a little more at ease with myself, and I find myself moving on from the last one.

Since the initial email, I've gotten two more from other people. One of whom was just asking why I'm not a baker. The other was a nice lady from Kingston who wanted to get to know me better. Needless to say, I was flattered but had to say no. Still too far, unfortunately.

The moral of this story is they're out there. I'll find em... or they'll find me. And thanks to everybody who listens to me. It is appreciated, and usually preferable to me talking to myself. =)

Anyways, I'm not sitting down just waiting for the world to come to me. I'm trying to send out as well. That's a tale for another post though. =)

But dude, if you hooked up with K-Town girl then you could LIVE in K-Town and it would be great!

Stick to your guns, though. What woman doesn't want a guy who bakes?

Thanks! I seem to be somewhat of an accquired taste. Comments on my profile ranged from great to you're weird.

Some get me, some don't. I can't please everybody, and I'm damned sure not gonna try anymore. =)

First of all, someone who thinks your weird ... that's a good thing! You are! Relish it, roll in it, roll in the relish ...errr, okay. Mabye not. :)

Great profile - Serd, dude, really - get some outside pics. Trust me, flourescent lighting does nothing for anyone. Really. Not even Sir Sean (swoon) would look good in that lighting! :) Good pics of you, just move the setting and you're ... set!

AND .... I second what darklight said!!!!
