2006 - The Year in Review
2006 is over. It's done. Finito. In the bag. Gone. Hasta la bye bye. All in all, it was a good year. I didn't win the lottery, but I did learn a lot.
Lessons Learned:
- I'm not ready for a relationship means I don't want a relationship with you. It's one of those hard lessons everybody has to learn. It can't be taught by well meaning friends. Thanks a lot for my well meaning friends who tried to teach me this. =)
- There really are other fish in the sea, who'll even go out on a date with me or even three. While nothing has really developed, that's fine. Eventually something will, and until then, I'm fine with being single.
- How to play Magic: The Gathering and Vampire: The Eternal Struggle. Next on the list is Pimp: The Backhand.
- The only person that I can change is me and the only reason to change is because I want to. What I believe in no way translates to what others should believe.
- There's no substitute for good friends or butter. Really, it's mostly about the butter.
- How to make naan bread and chapattis. Well, at least the theory. I need to work on the execution.
I don't typically make resolutions. When I decide to do something, I tend to end up just doing it. Still there are areas that I'd like to improve in the coming year:
Room for Improvement
- Stop leaking money like a sieve. Realistically, I need to stop eating out so often, and start cooking at home. This would also help my diet, which isn't a diet really, but more general nutrition.
- Improve job satisfaction. I like solving problems and I like the people I work with but I'm not excited about work anymore. Maybe this is what hit my parents, or all our parents, but it would be nice to look forward to going to work instead of just going home. I don't know what it's gonna take to improve that.
- I'd like to be able to buy friggin pants. The last time I went pant shopping, I was able to find a single friggin pair that fit. I'd like to be a little easier to buy for, or maybe everybody else buys those pants before me 44 X 30, cause there is sure as hell a lot of 38 X 30 pants on the shelf.
So, that's it... Goodbye 2006. Hello 2007. Actually, I like years with 7 at the end. They've all been pretty good for me. Here's hoping the trend continues for me, and for you.
Happy New Year!!
