Frak! Snow!

As others did this morning, I woke to see a skim of snow covering parts of the city. Naturally, I did what any hardy Canadian would do; I formed my resolve to sleep until April and promptly went back to bed. This, of course, didn't last too long as biological processes forced me to get out of bed. Bears really need to document how they can hibernate through the winter. Seriously.

As Magic night is at my house this week, I'm going to be cooking. The thing is, I've exhausted my own personal repetoire of sure fire hits so I'm now moving into uncharted territory. One of the cooks at work, who shall remain nameless (due to lack of creativity), provided me with her recipe for Chicken Stew with Parsley Dumplings. So, I'm gonna try my hand at that. It probably won't turn out like the image on the right. =)

In preparation, I did most of my shopping today and I picked up a fair bit of chicken. The recipe calls for bonless skinless chicken, which I refuse to buy anymore. I can bone and skin a breast in about 30 seconds now and I'm going to practice the thighs. After all, 4 bucks for a pound of chicken that I do use is better than 12 bucks for 2 pounds of chicken I won't use. Sure, I could freeze it, but I've found that my freezer is a black hole of food. Once it goes in, it rarely comes back out.

Any actual cooking will be taking place after the Wine and Food show. Gonna take the bus down there this aft and meet up with Hammer and Nail. Thanks to OC Transpo's site, it should be a one bus run.

Lastly, I did hear back from her. She said she'd love to have dinner and she'd love to get know me better, however, she didn't think anything romantic would arise from it. Based on everything else, I think she was trying to let me down easy. I thanked her for her time and let it go at that. She even put a testimonial on my profile:

Well ladies, this is one of the better men I have had the fortune to meet from this site. We were not a match but I know he will be a great match for someone out there. He is fun, funny and very down to earth. I can only say give him a shot and you will not be disappointed!!

I'm gonna leave it up there for a bit, but it begs the question if I'm that good, why'd she pass me up? In the end, it doesn't matter. I'm not gonna sit and obsess over it. Instead, I've moved on and am fishing elsewhere, and they're biting.

So, this is weird but I totally had a dream about you last night. I think you were cooking. Weird.

Nice guys only finish last with certain kinds of girls -- namely the ones who need to grow the hell up. Once those girls grow up, give up the game-playing and become adults, nice guys do just fine.

Hang in there, buddy. Good things are coming your way.

Yeah, the thing is songs today are so friggin sappy. I turn off Blue October's "Hate Me" everytime I hear it. My life isn't a black abyss of pain and suffering that nobody else can understand or has ever felt.

Crap, where was I going with this?

Anyways, my tank is nuclear powered, so it won't run dry anytime soon. I don't write this blog to complain. I use it as an opportunity to look at things in a positive light, so that when I do start to feel self pity, I can read it over remember the good things.

Yes, I'm a nice guy. I'm not a friggin doormat. =)
