Sugar and spice and everything nice
That's what my kitchen smells of. I've been on a baking kick this week. I'm paying off some bribes, destressing and generally just practicing. Christmas is coming and I won't get off easy with the baking this year, since I'm not flying down to Vegas.
I've baked 2 batches of Ginger Sparklers, 1 batch of White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies, 1 batch of sugar cookies and a failed attempt at butter cookies (more on that in a moment). In practical terms, this translates to 2.5 lbs of butter, ~3.25 lbs of flour, 1.5 lbs brown sugar and a half dozen eggs. This current bag of flour may not live out the month, and when I buy a new bag I'm gonna try using unbleached flour and see how that changes things.
I screwed up on the butter cookies... again. It's funny how this simple four ingredient recipe seems to elude me. This time, I think I miscounted scoops of flour; the resulting batter was not entirely unlike sand that had been soaked then rapidly dried in the sun. Needless to say, it got tossed and I'm now out of butter and corn starch. Something so simple, and because it is, I rush through it and mess it up.
I do want to take a moment and thank everybody who stops in and reads the blog, as well as comments. Your opinions and cheers are appreciated and always considered. =) I'm terribly new to this whole dating thing period. What most went through when they were 16, I'm going through at 30. Call me a late bloomer. Just don't call me late for supper.

That's sweet to thank us, dude. Thanks to you for having a blog that talks about food. It keeps me interested.
I'm excited for Christmas baking too! I've never really been a baker but this is the year.
It's funny how simple recipes can be so evasive. I know that biscuits eluded me for a long time, pie crusts and pancakes also. Things any granny can make in their sleep :) But by keeping at it I've been able to get pretty good with them, but also finding the right recipe helps greatly. My only advice is to bake tons more cookies for your friends until you get it right. ;)
Hair o' the dog that bit you, imo. Alternately, 3 extra strength tylenol, a can of pepsi and then start drinking water.
